From February 27 to March 3, Sayadaw graciously visited Dhamma Earth Penang. With great joy and gratitude, the community warmly welcomed the venerable teacher, deeply appreciating this rare and precious opportunity.
On the second day, the chairman introduced the environment and activities of Dhamma Earth Penang to Saṅgha. Many devotees also came to offer dāna on that day. With the venerable Sayadaw as a field of merit, the community had the opportunity to cultivate wholesome kamma through offerings.
During his stay, Sayadaw kindly gave Dhamma teachings to the community. Drawing on the wisdom of the Abhidhamma, he explained the nature of emotions: emotions are mental phenomena that arise and cease according to conditions, rather than a permanent and unchanging “self.” By cultivating mindfulness and wise attention, practitioners can observe the arising of greed, anger, and delusion, creating a space between emotion and reaction, thereby weakening the influence of unwholesome mental states.
In daily life, whether encountering pleasant or unpleasant situations, if one maintains wise attention, the mind can give rise to wholesome states rather than falling into negative emotions driven by greed and aversion. Through continuous reflection and transformation guided by wisdom, and by allowing wholesome states to replace unwholesome ones, this becomes an effective path toward gradually abandoning greed, anger, and delusion and progressing toward liberation.
May this rare and precious Dhamma connection become a supportive condition for the practice of all. May the true Dhamma long remain in this place and bring benefit to many beings.
Sādhu! Sādhu! Sādhu!
