The Kathina Celebration is a joyful occasion rejoicing with the Saṅgha in the completion of the three-month Vassa (Rains Retreat). It is a rare and auspicious opportunity for the fourfold assembly of disciples to offer robes and requisites, and to gather in wholesome merit together.
During this robe-offering ceremony, lay devotees express their deep respect and support for the monastics and the Dhamma by offering robes and other requisites with hearts filled with the highest intentions of generosity and devotion.
Within one month after the end of the Vassa, the Saṅgha will select a day to prepare and offer the Kathina robe. The process must be completed within a single day — from receiving the donated cloth, to cutting, sewing, dyeing, drying, and finally distributing and rejoicing in the robes among the monastic community.
This year’s Kathina was filled with Dhamma joy. As many good friends gathered, everyone stood shoulder to shoulder, joyfully offering the Kathina robe together. In that moment, hearts were connected — the atmosphere was both solemn and deeply moving.
Rejoicing in the merits of all who have contributed and served at Dhamma Earth Kuala Lumpur, may we all be in harmony with wholesome Dhamma, and may our hearts be filled with purity and joy.
