DHAMMA EARTH - HIMALAYA, DHAMPUS, NEPAL
Welcome to Dhamma Earth Himalaya
Dhamma Earth Himalaya (previously known as Tusita Himalaya Hermitage) which is started in the year 2010 is now officially opened to the public.
The basic facilities of the monastery are completed and can accommodate 30 to 50 meditators. At present, Dhamma Earth Himalaya has a half-year mode of operation. We expect to have a one-year mode of operation in the future if we have sufficient teachers.
Dhamma Earth Himalaya is in a small mountain village on the southern pass of the Annapurna peak in the Himalayas. Far from the hustle and bustle of city life, the snowy mountain environment is plain and quiet. The natural meditation energy and the location of 1,700 meters above sea level with moderate temperature are conducive to meditation.
The location of east-facing orientation allows you to see the panoramic view of the Himalayas in the morning when you open the door.
We hope meditators can experience the joy of Dhamma by meditating in the beautiful environment of the Nepali Himalayan mountain.

Donations to Monastery
Dhamma Earth Himalaya started since 2010. Over the years, the allowable requisites supporting the monastery are offered to Venerable U. Mangala by the devotees. Now that Venerable U. Mangala has stopped teaching, the monastery may face difficulty to sustain in the long run.
Dhamma Earth Himalaya is situated 1,700 meters above sea level at the Himalaya mountains. Till now, there are no local devotees. The monastery does not stipulate a collection of fees. All meditation courses, accommodation and food are free of charge. Due to the lack of manpower and other resources and the inconvenience and high cost of transportation, we face difficulty in sustaining the monastery. However, we still uphold our original intention of no collection of fees. We hope that more people from all walks of life, rich or poor, could have the opportunity to learn the Dhamma and gain true benefits. The monastery will make appropriate adjustments whenever there are insufficient funds based on the circumstances. An example is through shortening the meditation period.
Regarding the arrangement for monastic practitioners in the Dhamma Earth Himalaya:
In terms of the expenses of the monastic practitioners’ practice in the Dhamma Earth Himalaya, in principle, they are borne by the Dhamma Earth and the number of monastic practitioners supported in their practice at the Dhamma Earth Himalaya is determined based on the budget of the Dhamma Earth Himalaya. Under this arrangement, the monastic community has its own set of standards for the sequence of dispatching support and cannot fulfill the wishes of all the monastic practitioners to come to the Dhamma Earth Himalaya for practice at once. However, there is one exception where some individual monastic practitioners have their own funds to support their practice and do not need to use the funds provided by the group to support their practice. This will not increase the financial burden of the group, and they can come to the Dhamma Earth Himalaya for practice out of sequence, as long as the monastic community has confidence in their independence and self-discipline.
The operational fund of the monastery comes from the free-will donations of the devotees. They have gained true benefits from the Dhamma and wish for more people to benefit. If you would like to support Dhamma Earth Himalaya so that more people could learn the Dhamma and practise meditation and for the continuous operation of the monastery, we welcome you to contribute. We welcome donations of any amount. Every contribution is a priceless form of compassion, sincerity and wholesome act that helps others to learn Dhamma.
