About Venerable Paññāsami

- Born in year 1973 in Sibu, Sarawak, Malaysia.
- Introduced to Buddhism at a young age.
- Actively participated in regional and state activities of Malaysian Buddhist youth organizations.
- Developed an interest in Theravāda teachings after encountering meditation guidance from Theravāda monks.
- After working in Singapore for 10 years, felt the need to pursue a meaningful and noble life.
- Upon returning to Malaysia, began planning the path of becoming a monk.
- In 2014, ordained as a novice monk (Sāmaṇera) under Bhante Maṅgala. Inspired by his teaching, “Short-term ordination is for long-term ordination,” he started arranging for annual short-term ordinations.
- In 2016, without prior preparation, he embarked on the path of long-term ordination, due to the encouragement and admonishment of Bhante Buddharakkhita.
- In June 2016, went to Myanmar and received full ordination as a Bhikkhu (upasampadā) under Pa-Auk Sayadawgyi.
- Since 2016, he has been practising meditation at Dhamma Earth Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia under the guidance of Bhante Maṅgala and Bhante Buddharakkhita.
- In 2024, returned to Myanmar to continue meditation training at the Pa-Auk Tawya Meditation Centre, Pyin Oo Lwin under Sayadaw Kumarābhivaṃsa.
