About Venerable Dhammagavesaka
LVenerable Dhammagavesaka was born in 1969 in Penang, Malaysia.
In 1990, he was admitted into the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Malaya with outstanding academic results. During his university years, he actively participated in various Dhamma activities and profoundly inspired many fellow medical students to pursue the Dhamma path.
In June 2008, under the preceptorship of the Most Venerable Pa-Auk Sayadaw, he received the higher ordination (upasampadā) at Siddharamindika Ordination Hall in Penang, formally becoming a bhikkhu. The following month, he inspired his mother to renounce the household life as well, and together they embarked on a joyful monastic life at Tusita Hermitage (currently known as Dhamma Earth Kuching).
Under the spiritual guidance of Bhante Maṅgala, the mentor of Dhamma Earth, Venerable Dhammagavesaka diligently trained in both concentration (samatha) and insight (vipassanā) meditation. In 2012, he furthered his practice by training directly under Pa-Auk Sayadaw at the Pa-Auk branch monastery in Maymyo, Myanmar.
Venerable Dhammagavesaka has translated and compiled numerous important works, including A Comprehensive Manual of Abhidhamma, The Dhammapada, and various texts by Pa-Auk Sayadaw such as The Light of Wisdom, Knowing and Seeing, and Removing the Dust and Stains(去尘除垢).
He is also the author of the inspiring and thought-provoking book “The Fool Ah-Dai (傻子阿呆)”, a collection filled with both humor and deep reflections on life and the Dhamma and "Returning to the Right Path(回归正轨)", a guide to the basic mindset for beginner meditator.
